Project Summary
The Mission Support Complex is the business center for the 71-acre master planned California Space Center at Vandenberg Air Force Base. The Space Center is conceived as a place to inspire students to study science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, while also educating the public regarding space enterprise and the military history and cultural resources of Vandenberg AFB, and California’s role in space exploration. Mission Support is intended to house base contractor facilities, Federal agency facilities and a VIP/welcome and launch monitoring center. The fully secure complex is designed as a phased development of three 3-story, approx. 86,000 s.f., terraced office buildings with support on-grade and structured 4 level parking. Each contemporary building maximizes flexibility for large tenant open office configurations, divisibility to smaller multi-tenant use, and with 2-story open lobbies, ground floor exhibit space, a centralized vertical core, and exterior 3rd floor launch viewing decks.
