Project Summary
The Downey Unified School District achieved voter approval in November 2002 for a $165 million construction program to accommodate the growing student capacity and to enhance the publicly used fields and grounds.
The cornerstone of the Downey High School campus was the creation of a new sports stadium. This facility accommodates 4,500 spectators for viewing all outdoor events including football, soccer, drill team competitions, graduations and other appropriate events.
The stadium structure also provides space for additional classrooms, athletic equipment storage, and food vending and other associated uses. The field and track are “all-weather” surfaces.
